In perfect weather at the Neuruppiner Volksparkstadion, the duel between the league rivals was kicked off. The Union’s women set the first offensive tone early: In the second minute, Tomke Schneider pushed the ball forward over the left side and initiated the first dangerous attack of the match. The Hamburg women, however, were unfazed by this and responded shortly after with their first counterattack (4).

Thus, an intense encounter developed from the very beginning, particularly characterized by HSV's early high pressing. The Hamburg women created a clear advantage in chances during the initial phase and dominated the course of the game for long stretches, though they were unable to convert their opportunities into goals.

The biggest opportunity of the match up to that point belonged to the Eta team: In the 19th minute, Union was close to taking the lead after a three-chance sequence, but the crossbar denied the possible goal and kept HSV from falling behind. As the game progressed, the Union’s women found their footing in the match. Subsequently, Union repeatedly engaged in offensive actions and shots, making the encounter increasingly balanced. With the referee's halftime whistle, the first third of the match ended in the 41st minute without any goals.

After a slightly shortened ten-minute break, the second third of the match began on time. The Hamburg women got off to a better start and took the lead in the 45th minute: After a long-range shot from Andrea Svibkova, the ball found its way into the net, giving HSV a 1-0 lead. However, the equalizer did not take long to come: In the 53rd minute, Nele Bauereisen extended the ball with her head to Sophie Weidauer, who took the chance and slid it in for a deserved 1-1 equalizer. 

After 60 minutes, the match appeared largely balanced. The subsequent water break was used by head coach Marie-Louise Eta to bring in fresh impulses and made five substitutions (62.). In the 75th minute, the Berlin women had a chance to take the lead: Leela Egli had a promising opportunity in front of the goal but failed against HSV goalkeeper Jule Baum, who made a strong save to keep HSV from going behind. No further goals were scored before the next interruption, resulting in a 1-1 scoreline at the second break.

With the kick-off to the last third, the Köpenickerinnen got off to a better start. Both teams rotated again and brought fresh energy to the pitch with several substitutions. Shortly after the restart, Naika Reissner broke through on the left side and found the freshly substituted Antonia Halverkamps in front of the opponent's goal; she expertly scored with a turn, giving her team a 2-1 lead (82.). In this Friendly, four young talents from 1. FC Union Berlin also had the opportunity to prove themselves on the pitch. 

In the closing minutes, the Hamburgerinnen pushed for an equalizer once again: Jaqueline Dögnes took a chance from distance and precisely sent the ball past Nadine Böhi into the goal. With that, HSV equalized to 2-2 just before the end (118.). This would also be the last noteworthy action of the match, as the final whistle followed shortly after.

“We did not start very well, but then we got better and believed in ourselves more. The goal we conceded just before the final whistle was very unfortunate and did not reflect our improvement in playing performance. Overall, it was a good game,” summarized Leona Seifert the match.

“My first game was very intense and it was incredibly fun. We were able to take away many things and we improved our performance throughout the match. The longer the game went on, the more we believed in ourselves and showed our potential. Therefore, it was all the more frustrating to concede the goal just before the end,” said goalkeeper Nelly Smolarczyk after her debut. 

“Initially, we made life difficult for ourselves, and HSV missed several great opportunities. However, I really liked that we stayed brave and tried to play football. After we took control of the game, we can be satisfied with how it went,” explained Union’s women’s head coach Marie-Louise Eta after the Friendly.
