Dominant Köpenick women – Steuerwald and Heiseler in the lead

The initial phase of the local derby was marked by a lot of ball possession by the guests from Köpenick. Antonia Halverkamps made the first offensive exclamation in the second minute, narrowly missing the goal with a volley shot following a corner. It was also Union's number 29 who laid the ball back for another dangerous action from the right side ten minutes later, where Lisa Heiseler, however, missed the round leather by half a step.

In the 13th minute, the first cheer erupted in the Sportforum Waldstadt: After a strong performance in the final third by Dina Orschmann, the ball was kept in play and laid off to Samantha Steuerwald, who was centrally positioned and scored from 25 meters into the left corner of the blue-red goal for Union's lead.

The Poese team continued to apply high pressure afterward, which gave the match a hectic character. It was not until 23 minutes after the opening goal that the next notable chance arose, which directly led to something measurable: After a perfectly timed through ball from the FCU midfield forward, Dina Orschmann won her running duel, dribbled past the Turbine goalkeeper, and laid the ball off briefly to Lisa Heiseler, who only had to slot it into the empty net for a 2-0 lead (36.). This score remained until the punctual halftime whistle.

No more goals – Dominant friendly match victory

In the first minute after the restart, Marike Dommasch had the first dangerous Turbine action of the day: After she burst through on the left side with a lot of pace, her powerful shot ended up well over the crossbar. The FCU women then took control of the game again. Even after some substitutions, the Potsdam players posed little threat on goal.

Silje Helgesen narrowly missed extending the lead in the 56th minute by hitting a poorly taken corner just past the right post. A similar set piece also resulted in another chance for Union: Samantha Steuerwald got her head to it, but the ball flew just over the crossbar of the Blau-Roten (85.).

Shortly before the end, the home team made another appearance in the danger zone: After a mistake by the Union defense, Rana Okuma shot well over the goal (89.).

Voices after the match

“We started the match very well and improved compared to the Friendly against Hertha. In the first half, we implemented the tactical aspects well. In such friendly matches, a certain hectic pace towards the end is also normal. We are going into the match against Bayern with a lot of confidence,” said Nele Bauereisen after the final whistle.

“I am pleased that many players were able to gain playing time again today. We performed well in some areas where we struggled against Hertha. I am a bit annoyed that we did not take our chances in the second half. Overall, it was a very good test to stay in rhythm,” summarized Union's head coach Ailien Poese the local derby.

Outlook

Due to the international break, league operations will still be on hold this weekend. On Wednesday, 22.04.2026, Union’s women will host the record champions from Munich at 18:00 at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei.
