1. FC Union Berlin and young professional Noah Engelbreth will go their separate ways from the start of the 2024/25 season, with the 18-year-old joining Hannover 96.

Born in Berlin, Engelbreth has worn the red of Union since 2017, passing through all of the Köpenickers' youth academies. From the 2022/23 season onwards, he increasingly established himself in the U19s and was the first captain of the A-youth team in the current season. Engelbreth has played a total of 63 games for the youngsters of 1. FC Union Berlin, including six in the UEFA Youth League, scoring 13 goals and setting up a further nine.

The views on the switch

"I'll never forget my time at Union,” said Engelbreth on the transfer. “I grew up here and enjoyed a great education. But now it's time for me to take the next step and I'm doing that in Hannover. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for the club."

"Noah has developed really well both as a player and as a person over the years with us,” said Union’s director of women’s, youth and amateur football, Lutz Munack. “Since the start of the season, it was logical that he would lead the U19s onto the pitch as captain. We wish him all the best for the future. We will follow him closely."
