Before heading back to the pitch, the usual extensive medical examinations are scheduled. The first training session under the new head coach Mauro Lustrinelli will take place at home on Wednesday, 01.07.2026. The first two friendlies then await, against FSV Optik Rathenow (Ticket information) and SV Grün-Weiß Lübben.

The following week, after more training sessions, two away friendlies are also on the agenda. First against Chemnitzer FC (09.07.26) and then against FC Carl Zeiss Jena (12.07.2026).

While the football world is focused on the decisive rounds of the ongoing World Cup, Union will head to Switzerland for further pre-season games. On Friday, 17.07.2026, they will face FC Winterthur and on Saturday, 18.07.2026, FC Aarau.

New to this year's summer program is a short recovery break, between 20.07. and 26.07. before the final phase of pre-season begins. On Saturday, 01.08.2026, Union will visit SG Dynamo Dresden, before the first home friendly takes place at the Alte Försterei on Sunday, 02.08.2026. Their opponent will be the Italian top-flight team Cagliari Calcio.

Immediately after the final whistle, the team will travel collectively to the only training camp of the summer. In Styria, the team will work on fine-tuning ahead of the new season until 10.08.2026. Two more friendlies are planned during their stay.

The conclusion of pre-season will be the traditional final friendly, marking the official season opener. This will take place on Saturday, 15.08.2026, at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei.
