The lie of the land

Union had to wait six games for a victory, when it came, in the shape of their 3-1 win at 1. FSV Mainz 05 on matchday 33, it was conclusive, decisive and impressive. Marie-Louise Eta's goal now is a final three points as head-coach before handing over the reins to her successor, with the possibility of finishing in tenth, depending on the results of others.

FC Augsburg are also currently in the midst of a run, unbeaten with twelve out of a possible eighteen points in the last six games. If they can keep up their momentum, and the competition falters, they could even still qualify for European competition.

Two people have been most associated with Augsburg's intimidating recent form. Loan returnee Michael Gregoritsch, with three goals and two assists in four matches, is one of them. The Austrian has scored six and assisted three, with only Fabian Rieder being involved in a goal more frequently. Meanwhile, on the touchline, Manuel Baum, who has been leading the team alongside his role as Director of Development since December of last year, has achieved nine wins and six draws from 21 matches since then.

Of the 17 competitive matches between the sides so far, Union have won only two, one of which being the 2-1 win on the last day of last season. While eight matches have ended in a draw, FCA have won seven.

Keven Schlotterbeck played 27 games in Union's debut season. After the end of his loan spell in Köpenick, the defender was initially loaned to VfL Bochum for two more years before leaving parent club, SC Freiburg, and transferring to FC Augsburg.

Marc Lettau, who served as the assistant to the director of  football at Union from May 2018 to December 2022, has been the squad planner for the 'Fuggerstädter' since 2024/25.

Marie-Louise Eta and her staff must do without the injured Frederik Rönnow, Matheo Raab, and David Preu on Saturday. Derrick Köhn is suspended following his fifth yellow card.

The night before, on Friday, 15.05.2026, there will be a special night of football and entertainment. At 19:00 Union and Augsburg's legend's teams, featuring the likes of Torsten Mattuschka, Halil Altintop, will meet at the TZO. All further information can be found here .

As usual, the Stadion An der Alten Försterei will open two hours before kick-off. The match is sold out in the home and away sections .

There are still extensive traffic disruptions in public transport, and access via the tram lines “Altstadt Köpenick” is only possible with replacement bus services . Therefore, all visitors are advised to arrive early.

The underpass on Hämmerlingstraße is open for pedestrians. Due to restricted access to the forest path, it is recommended to use the path along the Hämmerlinghalle and the parking lot. To improve the entrance situation, additional entrances for women and children are signposted in all home areas of the stadium. The police request attention to this letter (German)

The match will be broadcast live in Germany by DAZN and Sky, with an audio stream on rbb24 Inforadio and on rbb24. Union will provide live updates in English om Twitter, and in German on their club's own live ticker. As ever, a comprehensive English-only match report will follow the final whistle.
