Defne Sarioglu has been nominated for a training course for the Turkish U19 national team. The 17-year-old joined the professional women's team of 1. FC Union Berlin this summer.

New age group

The Turkish junior selection's training course will take place in Erzurum from 7 to 13 August 2023. The city is located in the east of Turkey and is the largest city in Eastern Anatolia. For Sarioglu, it is a first call-up for this age group having already received four caps for the Turkish U17 national team last season.

Transfer to Union

Sarioglu moved to Köpenick from TSV Crailsheim in the fourth-tier Oberliga Baden-Württemberg only a few weeks ago to complete the goalkeeping trio around Melanie Wagner and Sarah Hornschuch. The talented goalkeeper previously played in her home town for VfR Aalen.
