Departures With the Greatest Thanks
Marina Georgieva and Lea Schneider Leave Union
1. FC Union Berlin are bidding farewell to two Unioners from the women's first team. Center-back Marina Georgieva and physiotherapist Lea Schneider will not be part of the squad in the upcoming season.
Vital support in a tough phase – Marina Georgieva says goodbye
The Austrian international joined Union's Bundesliga team at the end of October after being without a club and recovering from an injury. As an immediate reinforcement, the centre-back made her debut eight days later away against FC Bayern München, making her first start in the following game against HSV at home. Georgieva required little acclimatisation and stabilised an Union defence, plagued by injury and misfortune at the time.
Georgieva played eleven competitive matches for 1. FC Union Berlin.
Helping hands with a heart – Lea Schneider leaves Union
Phhysiotherapist Lea Schneider joined Union in the summer of 2025, strengthening Nico Haase Marinowski and Giuliana Di Bartolo's team. The 26-year-old was responsible for treatments, taping, training supervision, injury prevention, and much more during the past Bundesliga season. With her positive and supportive nature, she was an important part of the team.
After 28 competitive matches this season, Lea Schneider's time at 1. FC Union Berlin comes to an end.
