Women's First Team Members in Summer Games
Nine Union Players on International Duty
While many of 1. FC Union Berlin's women's team are already enjoying their well-earned holiday after a long season, nine of them are off with their national teams in June. For several players, the last matches of the group stage in the World Cup qualification are ahead.
The nominees
Eileen Campbell and Naika Reissner have been called up for Austria again. In the final two matches of their group, Austria will face Slovenia and Norway. Having taken only one point from the first four games, the Austrian team are under pressure, especially iwhen they meet third-placed Slovenia (3 points), to avoid relegation to League B of the UEFA Women’s Nations League. Regardless, after the summer break, both the third and fourth-placed teams will still have play-offs for World Cup qualification.

Lia Kamber has been called up for the Switzerland squad. The Swiss lead Group 2 in League B after four games with ten points and are thus dreaming of promotion to League A. However, they still need points against the bottom team Malta as well as against third-placed Northern Ireland. In the play-offs for World Cup qualification, Switzerland would face the second and third-placed teams from League B as group winners. Nadine Böhi has been nominated on standby.

Fatma Şakar is aiming to halt the Swiss momentum with her Turkiye side. They are in second place with seven points and will also meet Northern Ireland and Malta. However, Northern Ireland, with six points, are only one point behind them.

Athanasia Moraitou has already secured first place in Group 4 of League C with Greece. The Greek team won all three matches in their three-team group and will conclude against Georgia. As a result, they will be promoted to League B in the Nations League and will face the second and third-placed teams from League A in the play-offs for World Cup qualification.

Two Union players, Amber Tysiak and Hannah Eurlings, have also been nominated for Belgium, alongside new signing, Jill Janssens. In the final phase of the group stage, the Belgian women, who currently rank second in Group 4 of League B, will twice face the bottom team Luxembourg, who remain without a single point. The group leaders, Scotland, are tied with Belgium on eight points and will face Israel in the remaining two matches, who, on six points, are also still in the race. Promotion to League A and a better starting position for the World Cup play-offs remain possible for Belgium, provided they fulfill their mandatory tasks against the neighboring country.

Ida Heikkinen is currently with the Finnish U23 national team in a training camp in Portugal, with three top-class friendly matches on the agenda. First, Finland will face the Brazilian U-20 team, followed by matches against the U-20s from Portugal and South Korea.
