A Legend Visits for a Good Cause
Katarina Witt Foundation Support "Union bewegt ALLE" Campaign
For many children, collective movement, sport as a simple means of enjoyment and the attendant feeling of belonging are important experiences. With "Union bewegt ALLE", 1. FC Union Berlin have launched a program that is exclusively aimed at Berlin schools with a special educational focus.
In order to enable even more young people to have these positive experiences, the Katarina Witt Foundation are supporting the project with €30,000.
The "Union bewegt ALLE" sessions take place directly in schools and thus in the familiar environment of the children. During the multi-week project, topics include:
Movement, motor skills, and coordination
Familiarization with the ball as well as age-appropriate and needs-based football exercises
Team tasks, fair play, and shared experiences
Strengthening of self-confidence and social skills
Positive feelings of achievement and participation through sport
Impressions
The movement units are individually tailored to the abilities and needs of the children. The focus is not on athletic performance, but on the joy of movement and a shared sporting experience. At the end of each project phase, a joint sports festival or tournament takes place. The children will receive certificates and medals, with Ritter Keule also present.
The donation from the Katarina Witt Foundation will enable "Union bewegt ALLE" to run for the whole of 2026. In the long term, further inclusive sports offerings will be developed from the experiences at the support centers, and sustainable structures will be established so that children with disabilities can also have opportunities to engage in sports regularly beyond the project.
Donations towards the "Union bewegt ALLE" programme are also gladly accepted by Union's foundation:
