Union's Bundesliga Squad Returns

Back to Business

The first team of 1. FC Union Berlin returned after their summer breaks today for the first days back in training.

Preparations for 1. FC Union Berlin's Bundesliga team for the 2023/24 season started today, Monday.

Tests and checks

While one half of the squad completed their medical checks at the Charité, head coach Urs Fischer welcomed the other half for the first performance tests of the season. Under athletics coach Martin Krüger, the players also completed a strength training session.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) the groups will then swap so that every player will have completed the obligatory tests by the time of the first public training session on Wednesday.

Longer holiday for national players

Both fans and the coaching team will still have to do without those players who were away on tour and in action with their respective national teams after the last Bundesliga match in May. Frederik Rönnow, Sheraldo Becker and Aïssa Laïdouni, as well as UEFA Nations League finalist Josip Juranović and summer newcomer Alex Král, will not start team training until next week.

The 1. FC Union Berlin first team will leave for a short training camp at Scharmützelsee on Thursday and return on Sunday. The first test match at FSV Luckenwalde is scheduled for Wednesday, 12 July 2023.
