Intensive program in Neuruppin – Steuerwald completely satisfied

The team has completed numerous training sessions as well as a friendly on Saturday lasting 120 minutes against Hamburger SV (2-2). Fun was also on the agenda: This was ensured among other things by the team event on Thursday and the concluding team evening.

“I believe we made very important steps forward. We also had many activities for team building, so we could all get to know each other better,” explained defender Samantha Steuerwald. “The conditions were fantastic. The lake, the wellness area, the food – there was really nothing to criticize,” the 27-year-old added. Her personal highlight was the team evening yesterday to conclude the training camp.

Vetterlein sees progress – Aseko grateful for easy adjustment

Goalkeeping coach Alisa Vetterlein also reflects on a successful week: “We were able to quickly integrate the new players. We also quickly implemented the things we worked on, even though the friendly showed that there is still potential for improvement. All in all, however, it was a successful training camp.” As a personal highlight of the week, she mentioned the drumming workshop on Thursday, which “brought good energy to the group and was a completely new experience for almost everyone.”

Young player Lea Aseko, who transferred from Hertha BSC to the U23 of the Unionerinnen this summer, was able to spend the entire week with the professional team. The 17-year-old was excited about how quickly she was welcomed by the team: “The week was very nice and I had a lot of fun. The team was very nice and took me in well right away.” Of course, the intensive week also left its mark on her, as the forward further explained: “I’m already a bit tired. The training was intense, but the coaching team also adjusted it very well individually.” For Aseko, the friendly against Hamburger SV, in which she played for 17 minutes, was a special experience: “It was so much fun to be on the pitch with the team.”

Outlook

After the training camp, the Eisernen will now have a few days off to catch their breath. Throughout the week, the Haus Apotheke was there for them as the official partner of the training camp. Regular training operations will resume next Friday.

The next friendly is scheduled in two weeks: On Sunday, the 09.08.2026, the Unionerinnen will host the Italian top club Inter Mailand for the official season opener at Stadion An der Alten Försterei. Tickets for the match are available in the Online-Zeughaus.
