Union sets up camp in Irdning
After arriving from Berlin, the men’s professional team of 1. FC Union Berlin has settled into their summer training camp in Austria this Monday. Until the Friendly next Sunday, the Union will prepare in Styria for the upcoming eighth Bundesliga season.
Arrive, regenerate, come together
After an intensive weekend with two Friendlies, there was deliberately no regular training session scheduled on the first day of the training camp. Instead, the focus was on regeneration and settling into the new environment. In addition to individual measures such as jogging or cycling, the first joint dinner was particularly central, where the team kicked off the coming days.
From Wednesday, the real work on the pitch begins: Until the end of the training camp, head coach Mauro Lustrinelli and his team will tackle the next steps in the season preparation.
The squad
Union's coaching team can rely on almost the entire professional squad in Austria. Only Andrik Markgraf and Oliver Burke are not traveling, as they are still undergoing rehabilitation training. In addition to guest goalkeeper Phillip Menzel, two youth players from the U19, Duje Sliskovic and Fritz Gagzow, also belong to the Eisernen's training camp squad.
Outlook for the Coming Days
For the team, a joint team event is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, before all fans are invited on-site starting Wednesday for the public training sessions.
From Wednesday to Saturday, public training sessions will take place at the training grounds of ATV Irdning (Falkenburg Trautenfelserstraße 2, 8952 Irdning-Donnersbachtal) at 11:00 each day. Additionally, there will be a fan meeting with the team and the coaching and support staff on Friday evening at 19:00, with more information to follow in tomorrow's report from the training camp.
To conclude the training camp, Union will play another Friendly on Sunday, 09.08.2026 at 15:30 in the SAK Arena Nonntal in Salzburg against Aris Limassol FC.
Quote of the Day: “Parking is expensive here,” joked Tim Skarke towards treasurer Rani Khedira, after Tom Rothe accidentally parked his car incorrectly during the training camp.
