Women's Season Starts With a Derby

The NOFV have published the match schedule for the Regionalliga Nordost 2023/24 today, Wednesday 02 August 2023. The women of 1. FC Union Berlin start the new season on 20.08.2023 with an away match at Hertha BSC.

Eight cross-city duels

After the first matchday, Union will host promoted side 1. FFC Fortuna Dresden before head coach Ailien Poese's side visit Leipzig II the following weekend. This season, Union will play a total of eight cross-Berlin duels against Hertha BSC, Türkiyemspor Berlin, FC Viktoria 1889 Berlin and SV Blau-Weiß Berolina Mitte 49. On the fourth matchday, they will welcome last year's champions FC Viktoria 1889 Berlin to their home turf in Dörpfeldstraße. Union will close the season in front of their home crowd against Bischofswerdaer FV.

"The opener with Hertha BSC will of course be explosive straight away and we are very much looking forward to it," said Union's director of women's and girls football, Jennifer Zietz. "With 12 teams in the league, we have to concentrate 100% on every game, play consistently throughout the season and deliver our performances.
