Summer in the City

1. FC Union Berlin's women's team have announced their plans for a busy summer, in preparation for what promises to be a huge 2023/24 Regionalliga Nordost season. Start of training, friendlies, training camps... here you can find all the important dates for the summer of 2023.

Training kicks off on 10 July

Coach Ailien Poese's team will return to training on 10 July 2023, having undergone extensive medical and sporting tests. Union will then play their first friendly on 20 July at Pogon Szczecin. The team from Poland's seventh largest city finished last season in fifth place in the Polish first division.

Training camp in Bavaria

Three days after that first match, the players will go to a one-week training camp in Aschheim, where they will play two more matches against FFC Wacker München and 1. FC Nürnberg. Wacker München finished last season third in the Regionalliga Süd, while 1. FC Nürnberg were promoted to the Bundesliga, coming second in the 2. Liga behind RB Leipzig.

The pre-season will then be rounded off with two final friendlies. On 6 August, Union will host the recently relegated 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam, having already met last winter in a mid-season friendly. Union won that encounter 1-0 with a beautiful shot by Dina Orschmann. One week later, the players will be able to take their final bow before the season kicks off in earnest as they travel to play the Bundesliga’s eighth placed Werder Bremen.

The first match of the 2023/24 Regionalliga Nordost season will take place on 20 August.
