Laurenz Dehl will gain valuable first-team experience at 3.Liga club Hallescher FC. The 18-year-old, last season's captain of the U19 side, will head to the third-tier side for the 2020/21 season.
Dehl has been part of Union's youth academy since 2011 and signed his first professional contract in 2019. After an impressive start to the last season's U19 Bundesliga, Dehl was struck down with a knee injury which kept him out of action for several months. The versatile, offensive midfielder will get his first shot at professional football on loan in Halle.
"Laurenz needs some opportunities to play after his long injury break and needs to gain experience in adult football. For such a talented player it is important to be on the pitch regularly, and this opportunity is now available to him in an attractive league. We wish Laurenz all the best and will keep a close eye on his development," said Oliver Ruhnert, Director for Professional Football at 1. FC Union Berlin.
