Bundesliga announce Union's 2021/22 fixture schedule

1. FC Union Berlin will kick off the 2021/22 Bundesliga campaign against Bayer Leverkusen at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei.

Urs Fischer's side will begin their domestic campaign with the German Cup first round between August 6-9, 2021. A week later, the Bundesliga will commence and the Köpenick club will host Leverkusen on the opening weekend.

Sandwiched between 1. FC Union Berln's UEFA Europa Conference League play-off matches, Fischer's side are scheduled to take on Hoffenheim on Week 2 of the Bundesliga season.

Union will face Borussia Mönchengladbach and Augsburg at home before heading to Signal Iduna Park to play Borussia Dortmund on Week 5.

If Union qualify for the group stage of the UEFA Europa Conference League, the first round of fixtures will take place a few days before the trip to Dortmund.

On the weekend of 29-31 October, 1. FC Union Berlin will welcome German champions Bayern Munich to the Stadion An der Alten Försterei in what will be a highlight of the Hinrunde.

The eagerly-anticipated Berlin derbies will take place on the weekend of 19-21 November at the Stadion an der Alten Försterei with the return clash planned for 8-10 April in Charlottenburg.
