Union faces Cagliari Calcio in their home opener
The summer preparation brings the men's professional team of 1. FC Union Berlin back to the Alte Försterei for the first time. On Sunday, 02.08.2026, Cagliari Calcio, an opponent from the Italian Serie A, awaits the Eisernen. Kick off at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei is at 14:00.
The Opponent Check
With Cagliari Calcio, 1. FC Union Berlin faces a traditional club from Sardinia. The club was founded on 30 May 1920 and is one of the most well-known teams in Italian football. Cagliari celebrated its greatest success in the 1969/70 season by winning the Italian championship, the only Scudetto in the club's history so far. The club is considered a sporting flagship of Sardinia and is appreciated far beyond the island for its rich history. To this day, Cagliari Calcio is also the only Sardinian club that has been able to win the Italian championship.
The “Rossoblù” play their home games at the Unipol Domus and will also start the 2026/27 season in Serie A. They finished the last season in 14th place in the table.
International friendly match at the Stadium An der Alten Försterei.
Union hosts Cagliari Calcio
“After the last Friendlies, we as a coaching team are particularly excited to play our first game at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei and to feel the atmosphere with our fans. In this game, it is especially about providing as many minutes of play for the players as possible and bringing what we’ve worked on in training onto the pitch,” said head coach Mauro Lustrinelli regarding the game on Sunday.
Tickets for the return of the Eisernen to the Alte Försterei are still available for general sale online as well as in all Union-Zeughäuser stations. On matchday, tickets can also be purchased at the ticket counters from the opening of the stadium. In the standing area, Union offers an attractive family package: A ticket for one adult and one child (aged six to twelve) is already available for €20.
As usual, the Stadion An der Alten Försterei opens two hours before kick-off.
There are remaining parking spaces available in front of the main grandstand, which can only be booked online for the price of €8.
Due to bridge construction work as part of the renovation measures at the S-Bahn station Köpenick, Hämmerlingstraße under the railway line is completely closed to motor vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic. All stadium visitors are therefore requested to turn onto Hämmerlingstraße via Bahnhofstraße and Seelenbinderstraße.
There are still extensive traffic disruptions in public transport, and access via the tram lines “Altstadt Köpenick” is only possible with the replacement bus service.
Union informs about the match in the club's own result ticker, and AFTV+ also offers a livestream.
