Today, on Saturday, the gaze of Union fans was directed not only to the BayArena but also to Dortmund where, in the German Football Museum, the second round of the DFB Pokal was drawn by Bastian Schweinsteiger.
1. FC Union Berlin qualified for the next round through their win in the first round in Braunschweig Köln beat Würzburger Kickers 2-1 in their first round tie.
“In the DFB Pokal, every draw can develop its own appeal. Regardless, we are looking forward to Effzeh and will approach the task with the necessary concentration and corresponding respect. Our goal is clear: We want to reach the next round,” said Horst Heldt, Director of Men’s Professional Football, after the draw.
The matches of the second round will take place on 27 and 28 October 2026. For the first time, the Video Assistant will be used starting from this round. The exact scheduling will follow in the coming weeks.
