Back Home

After nine intensive days at the Spanish winter training camp in Oliva, presented by sonnenschutz.de, the women's team of 1. FC Union Berlin are back home. Seven sessions on the pitch, three in the gym and a friendly against Bayer 04 all took place in the camp, a valuable step in their preparations for the second half of the season.

After a final breakfast together at the their quarters, the team, accompanied by the coaching and support staff, left for Valencia Airport by bus. The return flight via Frankfurt went smoothly and a few hours later the players were back on familiar ground at the Oberspree training centre.

‘The training camp was a complete success. It was crucial in helping the new players to quickly find their place in the team and allowed the team to prepare for the second half of the season in optimal conditions. At the same time, I think that each of us is also looking forward to coming home,’ said Jennifer Zietz, director of professional women's football at 1. FC Union Berlin, summing up the winter training camp.

Before the daily training routine begins again in Köpenick, the players can now enjoy two well-deserved days off. On Wednesday, the performance diagnostics and lactate tests will continue. The focus will then be on the next test match on Sunday, 26 January 2025, at 14:00 against MKS Pogon Szeczin.

Quote of the day: ‘If it wasn't for you, I'd have someone else,’ said one airport employee to his colleague.
