While the celebrations are still ongoing, 1. FC Union Berlin are putting the building blocks in place for their first-ever Bundesliga campaign, which starts in August.
The first signing of the summer transfer window is 23-year-old Austrian winger Florian Flecker, who joins from Bundesliga side TSV Hartberg. Last season, Flecker scored six times, notched up six assists, all in the space of 30 Bundesliga matches.
"I am happy that I will be able to play for 1. FC Union Berlin next season. After my first professional experiences, I really wanted to take the step abroad and found the perfect club in Union. I am looking forward to the city and the club and would like to gain a foothold in the team as soon as possible," said Flecker.
"We have been watching Florian Flecker for quite some time and are delighted that the transfer has now come to fruition. Florian is a young, offensive, versatile player who has already proven his qualities in Austria. Now it is important for him to take the next step in Germany, to continue to develop steadily and to establish himself in the team," said Oliver Ruhnert, 1. FC Union Berlin's Director for Professional Football.
Florian Flecker has been handed a contract with 1. FC Union Berlin until June 30, 2021 and the deal is valid for both Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga competition.
