Suleiman Abdullahi joins Braunschweig on loan

Suleiman Abdullahi has returned to former club Eintracht Braunschweig on loan for the 2020/21 season. The 23-year-old will play for new coach Daniel Meyer following Braunschweig's promotion to the 2.Bundesliga.

Abdullahi switched from Lower Saxony to Union in the summer of 2018, initially on a loan deal. He was part of the promotion-winning season, featuring 22 times under Urs Fischer. In the Relegation play-off first leg in Stuttgart, Abdullahi's equaliser set Union on course for an important 2-2 draw at the Mercedes-Benz-Arena. He signed permanently but has only played six matches due to injury.

"Suleiman is a player who badly needs game time. His great potential is clear and he has to work hard to turn it into a consistent level of performance. It's therefore a sensible decision to send him out on loan to Braunschweig for a year," said Oliver Ruhnert, Director of Professional Football at 1. FC Union Berlin.
