Moritz Nicolas returns to Mönchengladbach

After a one-year loan in Köpenick, Moritz Nicolas has returned to Borussia Mönchengladbach. The 22-year-old is starting rehab training with his parent club following a sustained period out through injury.

Nicolas' debut last season for 1. FC Union Berlin came away to Hoffenheim on June 20. This was his first appearance in the Bundesliga and he held position for the full 90 minutes. However, the injury which he picked up in Sinsheim has caused him issues for the last few months.

"Moritz is a talented goalkeeper who has a lot to offer. He will go on his own path and needs game time. That didn't work out for him as much as we'd like here, so we understand his desire to return to Gladbach. We wish him all the best for the future," said Oliver Ruhnert, Director for Professional Football at 1. FC Union Berlin.
