Four players called up

While most of Urs Fischer‘s first-team squad will take a well-earned break, four Union players are about to represent their countries in the month of June.

Captain Christopher Trimmel has been named in Ralf Rangnick’s first Austria squad as he prepares to take on Croatia, Denmark and France in UEFA Nations League action. Midfielder Andras Schäfer will play for Hungary in the Nations League with two matches against England, one in Italy and one against Germany.

Julian Ryerson has been named in Norway’s squad for Nations League action. The full-back will go up against neighbours Sweden on two occasions, Serbia and Slovenia.

Meanwhile, Genki Haraguchi and Japan have qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and continue their preparations for the tournament in Qatar. The Samurai Blues host Paraguay and Brazil in friendlies before taking on Ghana in the four-team 2022 Kirin Cup, which takes place in Kobe – Chile and Tunisia are the two other participating nations. The final and third-placed match are scheduled for June 14 in Osaka.
