1. FC Union Berlin academy graduate Berkan Taz has signed for 3.Liga club SC Verl.
The 21-year-old from Berlin was recruited to join Union's academy in 2017 and two years later, made the progression into the first-team squad. He signed for Energie Cottbus on loan where he scored 11 goals in 22 matches for the fourth-tier club. In the DFB Pokal, he scored in his only appearance for Cottbus against Bayern Munich. He returned to Union this summer but will join up with the newly-promoted 3.Liga side.
"Berkan's path to professional football has to come through game time, which unfortunately we can hardly offer him here. He is always a positive guy who always gives his all to be successful, which is why we support his efforts and his move to SC Verl," said Oliver Ruhnert, Director of Professional Football at 1. FC Union Berlin.
