1. FC Union Berlin secure Robert Zulj on loan

Robert Zulj has joined 1. FC Union Berlin on loan from TSG Hoffenheim until the end of the season. The Austrian attacking-midfielder will wear the number 32 shirt this term.

"I really want to get on the pitch, so I'm very happy that the loan deal has worked out. After moving to Hoffenheim, I had a difficult start and didn't play as much as I hoped. Now I'm just happy to be here, wanting to prove my ability and help the team and club achieve their goals," said the 26-year-old on arrival in Berlin.

After emerging from the Linz academy, Zulj played for Ried and RB Salzburg before moving to Germany for a further test. He signed for 2.Bundesliga side Greuther Fürth and went on to play 91 games for the club, scoring 20 goals and netting 17 assists. His form earned him a switch to Hoffenheim in 2017, but Zulj struggled to break his way into Julian Nagelsmann's plans.

"We are delighted to have Robert here. At the moment, we only have one central player ready for action in Sebastian Andersson, so it was important to sign Robert, a versatile and robust offensive player who can give us more options in attack," added Oliver Ruhnert, Director for Professional Football at 1. FC Union Berlin.

Zulj's deal in Köpenick runs until 30.06.2019.
