After more than four years at Union, the assistant to the director of professional football, Marc Lettau, will take the next step in his career. The 37-year-old will take over the post of technical director at VfL Bochum from 01.01.2023.
Alongside Ruhnert via Schalke to Köpenick
Lettau and Oliver Ruhnert have had a close working relationship for over ten years. At FC Schalke 04, Ruhnert, as head of the youth department, appointed Lettau as the coordinator of the "Knappenschmiede".
They both took a step up together in May 2018, when Ruhnert, first as head scout and then director of professional football at Union, appointed Lettau as his assistant and at the same time as administrative head of the professional player department. One promotion to the Bundesliga, one Europa Conference campaign, and a Europa League qualification later, the Uelzen native is moving back to the Ruhr region after his time with S04.
Ruhnert says that with Lettau's departure, Union are losing an important part of the operations department. "Marc has done his job very professionally all these years and was an important part of our department. The fact that he can now take a further step in Bochum is to be his great credit. We wish him every success."
