A Breather on the Asphalt. Training Camp Day 3
Union’s Women go Go-Karting

After intensive days of training sessions for body and mind in sunny Spain, the women’s team of 1. FC Union Berlin had a special item on the agenda on Monday. As a team event, they were going go-karting.
In the fast lane
The morning began as usual with a session at the training camp presented by sonnenschutz.de. The players completed both a training session on the pitch and an intensive strength workout in the gym right next to the sports field. Divided into small groups, they practised precise passing, before working on their accuracy when finishing in front of goal.
After lunch, the players, together with the coaching team and supervisors, made their way to the ‘Vives Park’ go-karting facility, only a few minutes away from the hotel complex.
Competition on the track
As soon as they arrived, the Union players showed that they can give full throttle not only on the football field. In no time at all, the first players had put on their helmets and taken their seats in the karts. They were divided into two groups for a race – with a qualifying round and a main round. The focus was less on winning and more on having fun, building team spirit and getting a rush of adrenaline.
This special team event not only helped the team to gather their valuable energy and motivation for the upcoming training sessions, but also strengthened the spirit within the team.
‘It was really fun to be outside, enjoying the weather and doing something different. But still having the competition and challenging each other was good,’ said the winner of the race and managing director of professional women's football, Jennifer Zietz.
Back at the hotel, it was time for dinner together, and a little reliving of the earlier excitement
Quote of the day: ‘Marcus, please turn on Tokyo Hotel’ – said team captain Lisa Heiseler to athletic trainer Marcus Liebig during the session in the gym.
