Union Berlin go down 2-1 at home to St. Pauli

1. FC Union Berlin's Daniel Eidtner scored his 12th goal of the U19 Bundesliga campaign as the Köpenick side went down 2-1 at home to FC St. Pauli.

The defeat won't have much substance in the final reckoning, with the final match of the season next weekend. Union are in 10th still and four points above Hamburg-based Niendorfer TSV.

With last weekend's loss at Magdeburg put to one side, Union contested with a strong St. Pauli who had collected 53 points so far this season before kick-off. Union did well to take the lead on 16 minutes with Eidtner finishing off a close-range free-kick. Akagne Armel Gohoua equalised for the visitors against the run of play on 25 minutes.

The winning goal for the Hamburg club came on the stroke of half-time: Niclas Tibor Nadj stepping up to hit his 12th of the season.

Union XI: Kemlein; Alimler, Inaler, Rankic, Koch (Möller 82); Cetin (Petermann 75), Gencel (Muschkowski 82), Opfermann; Sitz (Maciejewski 75), Eidtner, Werner

1. FC Union Berlin's under-19 side end the campaign at Wolfsburg on Saturday May 11. Wolfsburg are already confirmed as Bundesliga champions for the north-northeast region. On Tuesday May 14 at 18:00, Toni Mandl's team meet Tennis Borussia Berlin at the FEZ-Berlin complex in the semi-final of the Berlin Cup.
