Leopold up for Goal of the Month
Vote Querfeld
The record-breaking and historic 4-4 draw between 1. FC Union Berlin and VfB Stuttgart on Matchday 30 of the 2024/25 season not only resulted in Union's survival in the league, but saw Leopold Querfeld reach Bundesliga immortality with his spectacular goal to make things 3-2.
From 35 meters, hitting 118 km/h from an expected goals value of 0.01. With these numbers, Union's defender has been rightly nominated for the Bundesliga's goal of the month for April. The 21-year-old Austrian took advantage of a pocket of space outside the box, made his move, and launched the ball into the top corner. It was unstoppable.
It was a good day for Leo, having already set up Union's second, and his colleague Diogo Leite's first Bundesliga goal.
In recent years, five Union goals have been voted goal of the month. Silvio (September 2011), Sebastian Polter (September 2018), Marcel Hartel (January 2019), Andreas Voglsammer (January 2022) and the duo of Sven Michel and Kevin Behrens (April 2022) also secured the award.
Now all the Unioner called upon to do their duty! Until 17. May 2025, you can vote Querfeld.
