While 1. FC Union Berlin's two professional squads start preparing for 2026/27, we take another look back at the past season with the vote for Union’s women's and men's players of the year – for the first time with both teams in the Bundesliga.

While the men’s team started the season well, they gradually lost their comfortable lead over the relegation places in 2026, before securing their survival in the league on matchday 32 after the 2-2 against 1. FC Köln. The women’s team, meanwhile, enjoyed a successful debut season. With 30 points from 26 matches, survival was never in danger, and especially in the second half of the season, Ailien Poese's side were able to showcase their strengths and stand up to the big names in German women’s football.

The vote for Union's men's and women's footballers of the year is open until July 31; based upon performance and various factors, a shortlist has been made. If your personal favourite of the year is not included, they can be independently added.

Every Union fan is invited to vote here. The vote runs until 31.07.2026. The player with the most votes will be announced at the beginning of the 2026/27 season and appropriately honoured.
