Today's draw took place after the last play-off match between Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Mönchengladbach (no Bundesliga sides, as well as Turbine Potsdam and SC Sand had to enter the play-offs). The draw was conducted by the 16-time international Turid Knaak, with Maren Meinert, assistant coach of the women's national team, overseeing the proceedings.

“Mainz showed the quality within their team by winning their play-off against VfB Stuttgart. We are preparing for an intense Cup battle that we want to win in the end,” said Jennifer Zietz, director of women's professional football, regarding the draw.

The first main round of the DFB Pokal will take place from 27 to 29 September. The exact timings are yet to be determined.
