Union's Pre-Season Tour Moves on to Chemnitz

The Opponents

The city of Chemnitz boasts over a hundred years of football tradition. As early as 1899, students founded the first precursor club of today's Chemnitzer FC, which later became one of the founding clubs of the German Football Association (DFB).

Among the club's greatest sporting successes are winning the GDR championship in 1967, reaching the Round of 16 in the UEFA Cup in 1989/90, and winning the Saxon State Cup twelve times. Currently, Chemnitzer FC play in the Regionalliga Nordost where they finished last season in seventh. The two clubs have faced each other a total of 40 times, most recently in 2022 in the DFB Pokal, when Union won 2-1 after extra time.

“The game against Chemnitz is important for us, the players can gather more important minutes to get back into rhythm and become increasingly accustomed to playing together and our instructions," said Union's assistant coach, Sascha Strauch, ahead of the friendly. "Additionally, Chemnitz are an opponent that play a few leagues higher than our recent opponents. So we will have to give our all again."

By Car
Please take the Chemnitz-Ost exit from the A4 and then drive on the B169 towards Chemnitz. The stadium will be signposted; drive towards Steinweg via Forststraße. This will bypass the city center.
Cars & minibuses (9-seater) should use Parking Lot 4 (guest).
This can be accessed via Forststraße. The parking fee is €4, the parking ticket can be booked in advance here.

Buses can park directly at the guest block on Forststraße.

By Train/Public Transport
Leave Chemnitz Central Station towards Georgstraße and turn right into Mauerstraße. Pass through the underpass and turn left at the end onto Dresdner Straße, about 700m to Thomas-Mann-Platz, then turn right into Palmstraße. Follow Palmstraße until the corner of Hainstraße, turn left, and then follow until you reach Forststraße, then turn right again. The guest entrance is about 500m on the right side.

Guest Block
For Union fans, blocks 20 (standing area) and 19 (standing area) are designated in the guest area.
Entrance
Standard security checks will take place at the entrance to the stadium. People visibly under the influence of alcohol will be denied entry to the stadium.
Baggage/ Bags
No larger backpacks or bags than A4 size are allowed in the stadium. Those with such items can deposit their backpack or bag for a fee of €1 at a storage area immediately after entry. However, these options are limited.
Guest Block Tickets
There will be a box office at the guest block when the stadium opens.
