New arrival from Kiel:

Union Signs Nunio Ahrens to the Academy.

The U17 of 1. FC Union Berlin will be strengthened in the new season by Nunio Ahrens. The 15-year-old newcomer feels at home both on the right wing and in defensive midfield, and is transferring from Holstein Kiel to Köpenick.

Ahrens joined the academy of the Störche from VfB Lübeck two years ago, playing last season in the U15s he attracted attention through good performances.  

Furthermore, Ahrens made the jump to the German U15s. In started in his debut against the Netherlands, before, just a few days later, he played his second international against Belgium.  

“With Nunio, we were able to convince a U15 national player to join us, who fits perfectly with us both as a player and a character,” explained André Hofschneider, head coach of the academy. “We had already been watching him before his call-ups by the DFB and had been working to bring him in. His versatility in the defensive area will help us. At the same time, we are convinced that we will continue to develop Nunio and support him in reaching his next step in performances.”
