Berlin honors its athletes:
Union nominated for Champions election
Since 1979, Berlin has crowned its CHAMPIONS once a year, and 1. FC Union Berlin is once again represented in the voting for the best athletes of the capital.
After two second places last year, both professional teams and the women’s head coach, Ailien Poese, can once again hope for the coveted awards.
Until Tuesday, 11.11.2025, all residents of Berlin can vote online for their "CHAMPIONS 2025" in various categories. All award winners will be announced and honored at the grand "CHAMPIONS GALA" on 29 November 2025.
Last year, the women’s professional team of 1. FC Union Berlin had double the reason to celebrate. In the category "Women’s Team of the Year," they took second place behind the basketball players of ALBA Berlin and ahead of Germany’s rowing quadruple sculls, while their head coach Ailien Poese received the silver bear in the category "Coach/Manager of the Year." The first and third places went to the coach of Eisbären, Serge Aubin, and Joel Banks, coach of the BR Volleys.
