The reactions after the game
“I think you can tell that we are not physically on par with our last two opponents yet. We are losing some second balls and our high pressing isn't always working out as we envisioned. In the second half, we performed better. However, there is still room for improvement and we are just at the beginning of our journey. Furthermore, I hope that the injury to the opponent [Maxim Hessel] is not too severe and wish for a speedy recovery.“
“We are only in the second week of preparation and have now completed four friendlies. With today’s temperatures, it was noticeable that concentration was not always at 100 percent. That is completely normal. We have only been working with Mauro for two weeks, so it will take some time to gel. Such things do not happen overnight. However, I am convinced that we will analyze the match well, draw the right conclusions from it, and improve step by step.”
“After these two weeks, what I take away most is that we have played more games than training sessions so far. The load is currently very high, and in such a phase it can happen that we are not able to display our game over the entire distance as we envision. Nevertheless, we had enough chances today to decide the match in our favour, and that should not be forgotten.”
Outlook for the coming days
Next Friday, the Union squad of the professional men will travel to Switzerland, where the Friendlies against FC Winterthur and FC Aarau are scheduled. Prior to that, the fans of the Eisernen will have the opportunity to take a look at the team of head coach Mauro Lustrinelli during a public training session on Tuesday, 14.07.2026 starting at 11:00.
