The aim is to ensure the modern, professional, and sustainable development of women’s professional football and to strengthen its economic viability. The clubs share the intention to invest significantly, to promote, make more visible in society, and thus elevate thewomen's game to a new level.

The discussions about the necessary contractual arrangements between the newly founded league association and the DFB, as the responsible sports governing body will continue, after a previously achieved consensus on the part of the DFB was recently revoked.

“This merger is an important step for the further development of women’s professional football. We see the potential that lies in women’s football and want to see it used consistently," said Union#s director of women's professional football, Jennifer Zietz, on the new organisation. "I am convinced that th is is also in the interest of the DFB and I am optimistic that in the end, there will be a productive framework and conditions to work together. Whether this will result in a joint company or in a mutual basic agreement will become clear in the course of further discussions."

The official founding of the Frauen-Bundesliga FBL e.V. will take place atrt 14:00 on 10. December in the Adler Business Club in Deutsche Bank Park, Frankfurt am Main.
