Fifth Youngster Cup:
The World's Top Prospects to Appear in Köpenick
1. FC Union Berlin are hosting the fifth edition of the U17's Youngster Cup on 16 and 17 August.
The tournament's group stage and play-off matches will take place both at the Stadion An der Wuhlheide and at the Trainingszentrum Oberspree. In addition to defending champions Benfica, seven other participants from around Europe are involved.
The group stage will take place on Saturday, 16.08., at the Stadion An der Wuhlheide, while the fifth to eighth place play-offs will be held on 17.08. at Union's training centre in Bruno-Bürgel-Weg. On the same day, the two semi-finals, the third place play-off, and the final will also take place at the Stadion An der Wuhlheide. Admission to all matches is free.
The Participants
Portugal's FC Porto will travel to Berlin-Köpenick alongside the defending champions Benfica while Italy will be represented by Juventus. From France, come record champions Paris Saint-Germain's U17's. Danish club FC Kopenhagen are making their Youngster Cup debut. The field will be completed by German representatives Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt, not forgetting the hosts, Union's own U17's.
The Match Schedule
The eight teams will compete in two groups. Union will face Juventus , FC Porto, and Eintracht Frankfurt in Group A. In Group B, Benfica, Paris, Dortmund, and Kopenhagen will meet and compete for a place in the semi-finals.
Juventus and FC Porto will meet in the tournament opener. The final between the two best teams will take place on Sunday, 17.08., at 14:00.
