Back on the Pitch:
The Men's Team Start Training.
After two days of mandatory test and medical examinations taking place at the Charité and then at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei, Union's men's head coach, Steffen Baumgart, called his team back onto the pitch for the first time. It was the starting signal for work on the pitch to begin.
New signings Oliver Burke and Ilyas Ansah, as well as loan returnee Livan Burcu, who trained for the first time in an Union shirt, were present. Additionally, Yannic Stein, Paul Jaeckel, and Alex Král had returned from their loan spells and were active on the pitch. The only absentee at the start was Wooyeong Jeong, who will join the team on Sunday. Aljoscha Kemlein is currently still working individually on his comeback.
The team was also supported at the start of training by three U19 players: Goalkeeper Tom Wisbereit assisted goalkeeping coach Michael Gspurning, while Duje Sliskovic and Elias Ali contributed on the field.
Public training session in front of 850 fans
Approximately 850 fans attended the first training session, which initially focused on getting back used to the ball, followed by various passing and coordination exercises. The new assistant coach Danilo de Souza also took on responsibility right away and directed a game format where three teams alternated in training ball possession and pressing. To conclude, there was an intense game on a smaller field.
Before heading off for the evening, the players took the time to interact with the many fans, signing autographs and posing for photos. The next two training sessions on Thursday and Friday will be held behind closed doors.
