Centre-Back Remains an Unioner

Stanley Nsoki Signs Permanent Deal

1. FC Union Berlin have signed centre-back Stanley Nsoki on a permanent basis following his one-year loan from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. The 27-year-old Frenchman made 14 competitive appearances for Union last season, establishing himself as a reliable presence in defence.

From a difficult start to an integral part of the team

Nsoki moved from Sinsheim to Berlin-Köpenick at the end of July 2025, though his start to the new season was made more difficult due to an injury. The left-footed player finally made his debut for Union in the DFB-Pokal round of 16 against FC Bayern München, but was unable to prevent a narrow 3-2 defeat.

Just three days later, he got his first start, away at Wolfsburg where, in the 68th minute, he scored the goal to bring Union back to 3-1 down, sparking a period of intense pressure in the closing stages, even though they ultimately left empty-handed.

As the season progressed, the centre-back celebrated victories against Leipzig, Leverkusen and Freiburg, amongst others. With his 819 minutes played, one goal and two assists, Nsoki made a significant contribution to 1. FC Union Berlin’s survival in the league.

Reactions to the new deal

“I’m very happy to be a permanent part of this special club,” said Nsoki on the inking of his permanent contract at Union. “The support of the fans and the trust shown by the club’s management have helped me enormously to make a full comeback after my injury. I feel very much at home in Berlin and want to continue playing my part so that we can remain successful together.”

Horst Heldt, director of men’s professional football at 1. FC Union Berlin, meanwhile said this of the signing, “Despite a difficult start, Stanley quickly integrated into the team and shown just how valuable he is to our game. His versatility, his tackling ability and his mentality are a perfect fit for Union. We are delighted that he is staying with us long-term and will further strengthen our defence.”
