Noack and Weidauer score.

Review of the national matches of the Union women.

Six of Union’s women were active for their national teams during the international break in October. With Friendlies, U17 European Championship qualification matches, and Play-offs in the Nations League, the Eisernen had a diverse program scheduled.

Nadine Böhi is still waiting for her international debut for Switzerland. In the friendly wins against Canada (1-0) and Scotland (4-3), the 21-year-old goalkeeper did not play.

For Korina Janež and the Slovenian national team, the only match during the international break ended in a 4-2 defeat at home to Serbia, with the midfielder being substituted in during the 28th minute of the friendly.

Ida Heikkinen made her first two appearances for the Finnish U23s, having previously represented the U19s. In the two friendlies, the “Huuhkajat” remained winless. They first lost to Denmark 1-3, with Heikkinen coming on in the second half. Six days later, there was a 1-1 draw against Mexico, in which the winger also played over 45 minutes.

The international break was extremely successful for Sophie Weidauer, who scored twice in Germany's U23s 5-0 friendly win against England, also winning the penalty that led to Germany taking a 2-0 lead. She was substituted after 83 minutes. Germany also won 4-0 in Malmö against Sweden when Weidauer was substituted after 59 minutes with the score at 1-0.

Mariann Noack was also able to celebrate a goal in the German jersey. In the U17s first EUROs qualifier, the center-back scored Germany's second after a corner in the 2-1 victory against Belgium. Noack was on the field for 79 minutes. Three days later, they suffered a narrow 1-0 loss in France, a game in which Noack played the entire 90 minutes. In the final group match against Ireland, the German team advanced to the second qualifying round in March 2026 with a 2-0 victory. Noack played the full duration again.

The matches of the Austrian national team featuring Eileen Campbell were also of great importance, as they were fighting for survival in League A during the Nations League play-offs against the Czech Republic. Austria lost the away match 1-0, as Campbell played for 88 minutes. In the return match in Vienna, the Austrians turned the result around with a 2-0 victory, ensuring their place in League A. Campbell was on the field for 81 minutes and won the penalty for the opener.
