1. FC Union Berlin's Annual General Meeting

Preservation of Top Flight Status, Record Attendances, and Increased Equity

The Annual General Meeting of 1. FC Union Berlin e.V. took place at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei on Tuesday evening.

The Executive Board, Supervisory Board, and the Honorary Council reported on the past season, in which Union secured league survival in the Bundesliga with both of their first teams. The financial figures for the 2024/25 season were also presented, which had already been made available to members in January.

Bundesliga – an ongoing challenge

The men’s team successfully maintained their place in the top division for a seventh consecutive season. This was also achieved by the women’s early on, playing their home games in front of a total of 106,627 spectators—a new attendance record in the Women’s Bundesliga.

Regarding the competitive landscape, particularly for the men’s team, Union President Dirk Zingler stated: “Our goal will always be to have our teams represented in the top division. This is not a given, nor can it be, given the significant competitive disadvantages we face. With the upcoming stadium expansion, we are finally creating the conditions that justify our claim to a longer-term presence in the Bundesliga. The fact that difficult phases must always be endured on the path to a good final result should come as no surprise to us. Today, we can look back on a successful season.”

Honours for deserving Union members

As is tradition, distinguished Union members were honoured during the meeting. The bronze pin of honour was awarded to:

• Sebastian Frank

The silver pin of honour was awarded to:

• Marian Krüger

Report of the Presidium

Report from the Executive Committee

In the Executive Committee’s report, Dirk Zingler took a comprehensive look at football within the club:

“With our two professional teams at the top, we have also developed well in other areas. The conditions created at the Oberspree Training Center [TZO] for our youth academy are already paying off visibly. With Mariann Noack (15), Leona Seifert (16), Linus Güther (16), and Dmytro Bogdanov (18), four players have made their professional debuts who were trained there,” said Zingler. “In addition, we provide a large number of players for the youth national teams of various countries. And even when players trained by us go on to successfully pursue their careers in professional football elsewhere, that is a testament to our strong youth development work.”

This performance-oriented training continues to be complemented by extensive sports promotion activities, which get thousands of children moving through play each year in daycare centres, schools, and during vacation and match-day camps.

An important step toward competitiveness is the Alte Försterei training centre, which is scheduled for completion by the end of the year. “We are on track to significantly improve the daily training and working conditions for both professional teams. So far, we are well on schedule and within the estimated budget,” he continued. “I am also convinced that creating equal conditions for men and women will change our club and make it better.”

Oskar Kosche, Executive Board Member and Chief Financial Officer, explained the consolidated financial figures for 1. FC Union Berlin e.V. and its subsidiaries for the 2024/25 season.

In the 2024/25 season, Union recorded revenues of 191.66 million euros, setting a new revenue record. The reported profit amounts to 0.45 million euros. Positive equity rose to 8.07 million euros.

For the current 2025/26 season, Union are projecting revenues of approximately €187.54 million. The projected consolidated net income is expected to be €0.32 million.

“We are well-positioned for the infrastructure investments that have already begun and those that lie ahead,” Dirk Zingler stated. “Now we need to move forward with the planning quickly so that we can begin the stadium expansion next year. We see that all stakeholders are on board and are optimistic that we will overcome the final hurdles in the coming months.”

In the Supervisory Board’s report, Thomas Koch gave a positive assessment of the team’s performance this season. “Together, we are experiencing the longest stretch of first-division status in our men’s team’s history. No generation before us has managed to keep Union at the top for this long. This pride fuels our drive to ensure this phase never ends. To achieve this, we must continue to work tirelessly, because 1. FC Union Berlin in the Bundesliga is by no means a given.”

At its meeting on September 18, 2025, the Supervisory Board, in accordance with its statutory responsibilities, approved the annual financial statements and discharged the Executive Board for the 2024/2025 fiscal year.

Honorary Council Chairman Wolfgang Vallentin expressed special thanks to the many Union volunteers for their diverse contributions within and around the club.

Following the reports and the discussion thereof, the General Assembly voted by a clear majority to grant discharge to the Supervisory Board and the Honorary Council.
