New contract and temporarily in League 3:

Oluwaseun Ogbemudia per loan to Mannheim

1. FC Union Berlin and third division club SV Waldhof Mannheim 07 have agreed to loan Oluwaseun Ogbemudia: The 19-year-old defender will spend the second half of the 2025/26 season at the Carl-Benz-Stadion, having previously extended his contract with the Eisernen.

Long name – much talent

Oluwaseun God Power Osaro Ogbemudia joined Union in summer 2023 and has since become an important part of the U19. He played 32 matches in various German youth competitions as well as the UEFA Youth League, proving to be dangerous not only in his core business – defending – but also in front of the opponent's goal. Four goals and two assists are recorded here.

These performances and his commitment in training with the first team led to the center-back signing his first professional contract in August 2024 and, so far, a total of eleven call-ups to the matchday squad in the Bundesliga. Most recently, the native of Bremen sat on the bench during the 1-0 success in Cologne and celebrated the successful year-end 2025.

Statement on the loan

“Olu needs match practice and minutes on the pitch. This has not been possible for us lately due to the competition in his position, so we are glad to have found a club in Waldhof Mannheim where this opportunity is available. We believe in Olu's potential, which is why we have agreed with him on a contract extension. Now we will carefully observe the next six months and hope that Olu gets his playing time and returns to us with new experiences,” said Horst Heldt, managing director of professional men’s football at 1. FC Union Berlin.
