The start of the new term also marks the beginning of a new phase in the club's development, with the start of another construction phase around the Alte Försterei approaching. The coming days will see the start of preparatory construction measures for the establishment of the professional training center next to the stadium.
“The term of the new executive committee coincides with a significant transformation of our stadium grounds, marking another milestone in the development of 1. FC Union Berlin. The design of the most extensive construction phase in the club's history, the careful planning and utilisation of the necessary financial resources, and the maintenance of the conditions for sporting success demand an even more intensive exchange and well-considered decisions from the committee than before,” explained Thomas Koch, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of 1. FC Union Berlin. “Dirk Zingler has fulfilled our wish for Union to be led by a full-time committee after 21 years in a voluntary role, allowing him to devote himself fully to the challenging task. For the first time in its history, our club will be led by a full-time presidency. I wish all members of the committee much strength, wise decisions, and great success.”
“After 21 years as president, the start of this new term is also a fresh start for me. After the first years focused mainly on the survival of our club, we are now implementing the most important future project with the stability we have established. The area around the Alte Försterei, our club's home for more than 100 years, will undergo a significant transformation. In the end, we will have a modern training center and a Bundesliga-capable stadium for our two professional teams, providing more space and better conditions for spectators,” said Dirk Zingler, President of 1. FC Union Berlin. “I look forward to implementing these changes, which will shape Union for the coming decades, step by step together with my colleagues in the executive committee and in close coordination with the supervisory board. At the same time, we will also invest in our core, in football, during this phase. The sporting success, especially of the men's professional team as the driving engine, but also prospectively of the women's professional team, is the foundation for the success of the entire club. We will provide both teams with the resources they need to be successful.”
