A central part of the nati since 2019

Aebischer started his football career at FC Heitenried before moving to the youth department of BSC Young Boys via FC Fribourg. There, he passed through the youth teams and made his debut in the Swiss Super League in September 2016 against FC Luzern.

The right-footer became a fixed asset in the midfield of the Bern side over the following year, winning four Swiss championships between 2018 and 2021, as well as the Swiss Cup in 2020. In addition, he gained experience in the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League and established himself as an important part of one of the most successful teams in his country.

In January 2022, Aebischer moved to Bologna in the Italian Serie A where, after a successful loan spell, the transfer was made permanent in the summer of the same year, having quickly become a reliable presence in midfield. He played more than 90 competitive matches for the Rossoblù and won the 2024/25 Coppa Italia. The Swiss spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Pisa SC. Although the relegation to Serie B could not be prevented, he left a positive impression, so that the Tuscans signed him on a permanent basis afterward.

Aebischer has also been part of the Swiss national team for several years. After his debut in November 2019, he participated in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and at the European Championship 2024 in Germany. In the opening match of the Euros he contributed a goal an assist in the Swiss side's 3-1 victory over Hungary. He was also part of the Swiss squad for the recent World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, where he appeared in four matches.
