With Germany to the Round of 16:

Mariann Noack makes a comeback at the U17 World Cup

The German U17 national team had to bid farewell to the tournament in the round of 16 at the World Cup in Morocco. However, there was reason for joy for Mariann Noack: After a long injury break, the defender returned to the field and celebrated her comeback in the DFB jersey with several appearances.

Confident performance in the group stage

The reigning European champions started the tournament successfully and won their first group match 2-1 against Argentina. Mariann Noack was substituted in the 66th minute and collected her first World Cup minutes.

In the second group match, the team of head coach Sabine Loderer also remained victorious, defeating the host nation Morocco 4-2. Noack did not participate in this match. With this success, Germany secured the top spot in the group early on.

In the final match against New Zealand, the DFB selection completed a perfect group stage with a 2-0 victory. The Unioner was substituted at halftime and remained on the pitch until the final whistle.

Early goal seals the tournament exit

In the round of 16, Germany faced Venezuela yesterday, Wednesday, and fell behind in the 4th minute. Despite all efforts, they could not equalize, resulting in a narrow 0-1 loss for the DFB selection and an earlier-than-expected end to their World Cup journey in Morocco.

Mariann Noack was substituted in the 61st minute as a center-back and was pushed forward into the attack for the closing offensive with her physical presence.
