New Arrival From Cottbus:
Linus Güther Strengthens the Academy.
1. FC Union Berlin's youth department have signed Linus Güther for the new season. The 15-year-old forward is moving from the youth academy of FC Energie Cottbus to the capital.
The attacking midfielder, who can also play on the wings as well as up front, played for Energie Cottbus' U17s last season, making ten appearances in the DFB Youth League, starting all his matches and scoring two goals. Güther spent three years in the Lausitz club's youth academy, which he joined in 2022 from his hometown club, Spremberger SV 1862.
Güther also made his debut last season for the German U15s, scoring on his debut against the Netherlands. A few days later, Güther scored again against Belgium and set up two more goals for his teammates.
“We are very pleased that Linus has chosen Union,” said Lutz Munack, director of Union's youth and amateur department. “With his extraordinary strengths in one-on-one situations and his playfulness, he can continually create special moments on the pitch. We are proud of the transfer of a youth international Köpenick, which also reflects the increased importance of our youth academy and the entire club.”
