From Jena via Bremen to Berlin

Hausicke discovered her passion for football when her twin brother took her along to a match one day. She quickly began playing at her local club, progressing through all the boys’ youth teams before moving to the academy of FF USV Jena, still a Bundesliga side at the time. As part of her move, the midfielder also attended the GuthsMuths Sports Grammar School in Jena, where she was able to focus specifically on her development as a footballer. She was promoted to the B-youth team at Jena and was appointed captain at 14.

Thanks to her consistent performances in the youth team, Hausicke made the leap into the extended squad of the Bundesliga side a year later. She made her 2. Liga debut in November 2013, before making her top-flight debut in April 2014, at the age of just 17. It was there that she met Union defender Anna Weiß; they played together for FF USV Jena’s first team until Hausicke’s departure.

After four years in Jena, she moved to Bundesliga newcomers SV Werder Bremen in 2017. She went on to make made 207 appearances for the club, scoring 18 goals. Hausicke led the team onto the pitch as captain since 2020. It wasn’t all plain sailing for the Halle-born player, however, as 2019 saw Bremen relegated, but they returned to the top flight immediately the next season

Hausicke has also gained international experience at international level, making six appearances for Germany’s U-19s.

Three facts about Lina

• As well as football, Lina is also interested in various other sports: from surfing to road cycling, and she has even tried her hand at trampoline gymnastics and sprinting.

• Lina has a twin brother.

• With 192 Bundesliga appearances, Hausicke has made more appearances than any other Union player in the German top flight. This also places her among the top 100 in terms of Bundesliga appearances.

I’m looking forward to contributing my experience, getting to know the team and taking the next steps together.”
