Lia Kamber will be dribbling for Union
The Swiss national team player Lia Kamber joins 1. FC Union Berlin. The 19-year-old moves from FC Basel to the German capital city.
Early starter with national team experience
After playing in the boys' youth teams of SC Cham and Team Zugerland until she was 16, Lia Kamber moved to FC Lucerne in the summer of 2022 and was added to the women's team roster. She scored once in each of the first two games of her debut season and, at just 16 years old, earned herself a permanent place in midfield. By the end of the season, she scored 20 goals. By the end of the season, she had made 20 appearances for Lucerne and took part in the U17 European Championship with Switzerland.
Kamber was also a regular in central midfield in the following season, which led to her making her international debut for the Swiss senior national team in February 2024, just a few weeks after her 18th birthday. At the end of her second season, in which she played 23 games for Lucerne, she was signed by Swiss top club FC Basel.
However, Kamber spent the first half of the 2024/25 season on loan at her old club before joining Basel in January 2025 after 57 competitive games for FC Lucerne (6 goals). Last year, she played 29 games for FCB, scoring eight goals. Her performance earned her a return to the national team squad in the fall, for which she played her third international match in October. Kamber is now leaving her Swiss homeland for the first time, as she moves to Berlin. At Union, she will meet her compatriot and national team colleague Nadine Böhi.

Kamber helped Switzerland reach the semi-finals of the U17 European Championship.
Kamber has completed an education in business administration.
Her role model is her national team colleague Lia Wälti, who won the Champions League with Arsenal in the summer. Kamber has already played alongside her twice in the Swiss national team.
