Forged at “La Masia”, successful with the “Furia Roja”

The Catalan Pujols was born in 2005 and developed a close connection with FC Barcelona from an early age, joining the club’s renowned youth academy, “La Masia”, in 2019. She became a permanent part of the women’s reserve team squad in 2022/23, for whom she would make 76 competitive appearances, scoring two goals. Just one year later, at the age of only 18, she took the next step up to the first-team squad of FC Barcelona Femení, making four appearances for the first team. Through appearances in Liga F, the Copa de la Reina and the UEFA Women’s Champions League, the defender gained vital match experience at the highest level. That season, she won the Spanish league title, the cup, the Supercopa and the UEFA Women’s Champions League with the serial champions.

In July 2025, the now 21-year-old left the country of her birth for the first time to join seven-time German champions VfL Wolfsburg, where she made 24 appearances last season, scoring one goal. Pujols will now spend the 2026/27 season at Union alongside an old acquaintance, Nelly Smolarczyk, Union’s goalkeeper, who played alongside her in Wolfsburg.

Pujols also already has extensive international experience. She won the World Cup in 2022 with the Spanish U-17s national team. She then went on to secure the European Championship title with the U-19s in both 2023 and 2024. During her second European Championship victory, she even led the team onto the pitch as captain. In total, she has made 43 international appearances for the Spanish youth national teams.

Now I can hardly wait to get to know the team, settle in quickly and then finally get going.”
