Experienced New Arrival
Jenny Hipp Strengthens the Union Midfield.
1. FC Union Berlin have signed Jenny Hipp. The 27-year-old midfielder is staying in the Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga, moving to Köpenick from RasenBallsport Leipzig.
A central driving force
Hipp began her football career at FSV Frankfurt, played for several years at 1. FFC Frankfurt, before joining the youth performance center of Turbine Potsdam in 2012. There she developed as a player of great promise while at the boarding school. In 2015, she celebrated the German championship with the B-Jugend team – her first major success at national level. A year earlier, at the age of only 16, the native Hesse had already made her debut for Turbine Potsdam II in the 2. Bundesliga and was included in the squad of the first team, where she trained regularly.
In 2017, Hipp took the leap abroad and began playing college football at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass). During her three years in the USA, she not only gained sporting experience but also successfully completed a bachelor's degree in sociology.
After finishing her studies, she returned to Germany and initially joined FC Carl Zeiss Jena, before finally moving to RasenBallsport Leipzig in summer 2021. In the 2022/23 season, Hipp was one of the absolute key players there, scoring 14 goals, making her their second-top goal scorer. In 2023, she crowned another strong season with the 2. Bundesliga title, achieving promotion to the Bundesliga, and reaching the DFB-Pokal semifinals.
Hipp made an immediate impact in the Bundesliga. On her debut in September 2023 against 1. FC Köln, she provided an assist, and in March 2024, scored her first top flight goal from the penalty spot against MSV Duisburg. She played in 25 competitive matches last season.
In addition to her club career, Jenny also gained international experience in several German youth teams, representing her country at U15, U16, and U17 levels. She participated in the 2015 U17s European Championship where she played in all group matches and in the semifinals. She has played 13 times for Germany's youth sides, and scored two goals.

During her time in the USA, she was named to the Atlantic-10 All-Rookie Team & All-Atlantic 10 Second Team in 2017, as well as Midfielder of the Year of the Atlantic 10 Conference & First Team All-Conference in 2018.

“When I found out that Union were interested in me, I was immediately thrilled," said Hipp on the signing of her deal. "Anyone who has been involved with German women's football has noticed what this club has achieved in recent years and where it aims to go. I want to contribute my part and am really looking forward to getting to know Berlin and the team.”
